An easy way to protect data from ransomware attacks

Ransomware is a form of malware that infects the system and encrypts the files on the system.

If you are hit by a ransomware attack, you will not be able to access your data because your data files are encrypted. To be able to access the data file again, you must do a description of the file.

To be able to perform the description, you need the description key that is owned by the Ransomware attacker. Usually, the attackers will ask for a ransom in exchange for the description key. Once your ransom is paid, you can only hope that attackers will provide the decryption key and regain access to your files.

Until now, it has not been proven that there is an antivirus that is able to prevent all types of Ransomware that continue to grow.

One of the most effective and easy ways to protect data files is to restrict access to them. Only applications that have obtained permission can and may make changes to the file.

Microsoft Windows already has a feature to prevent ransomware attacks called “Controlled folder access”.

Controlled folder access works by blocking all applications from making changes to protected files.

To be able to make changes to the file, you must add applications that you trust to the white list. Only applications that are on the white list can make changes, while other applications that are not on the list can only read or executed.

Steps to protect data files from ransomware attacks by using “Controlled folder access” on Windows.

1. Open “Controlled folder access”.

Type “Controlled folder access” in the Windows search button. Then select the application ” Controlled folder access “.
